GOLF UNITES NATIONS!
On July 16-17, ARARAT Golf Club, Armenia, hosted the annual golf championship Caucasus Cup, having received regular teams of Georgia and Armenia.
The idea to organize a regional golf competition was developed by the National Golf Association of Armenia in the first place. For the first time, the tournament was held in AMBASADORI Golf Club, Georgia, in 2015.
Caucasus Cup 2015
Caucasus Cup was modeled after the tournament format of Ryder Cup, where the greatest golfers from the United States and Europe contend. Over two days, Armenian and Georgian teams have been meeting on the Armenian golf course competing for the Caucasus Cup, having played Scramble, Best Ball, and Individual Match.
The winner of the 2016 championship was the team of Georgia! Having won four points from Armenia (10 and 6 respectively), Georgian golfers took the Caucasus Cup along with them. Next year, Georgia again will host this golf competition and Armenian golfers have already started the preparation to return the Caucasus Cup back.
In general terms, Caucasus Cup plays a pivotal role in the regional golf development. The championship is organized with the support of National Golf Association of Armenia and Georgian Golf Federation.
The 2016 golf tournament was signalized with another significant event: During the Opening Ceremony, the representatives of golf organizations of the two countries signed the official agreement on cooperation and mutual assistance in promotion and development of the game of Golf in the Caucasus region.
Caucasus Cup has been successfully established and its organizers strive for the longstanding continuance and prosperous upgrowth of this regional golf competition.
